Peru continues to strengthen its position as an agricultural export powerhouse with the goal of securing 16 new sanitary and trade access points by 2026, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI). The strategy combines the opening of markets for agricultural products with a growing boost to the livestock sector.
One of the main focuses is strengthening trade in animal products, with efforts to gain access for poultry meat to Paraguay, poultry meat (processed) to Singapore, pork (processed) to Singapore, as well as the export of horse semen and pet food to Argentina.

To promote new sanitary and commercial access, the country is coordinating efforts with the Ministries of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) and Foreign Affairs (RREE), as well as with representatives from PROMPERÚ, AGAP, ADEX, APA, ASOPORCI, and other strategic entities.
These advances reflect the country's sanitary and technical efforts to comply with international standards, promoting not only more exports, but also livestock products with greater added value, traceability, and biosecurity.
With agricultural exports exceeding $15 billion in 2025, Peru aims to consolidate the livestock sector as an increasingly important component of its agro-export growth.
