The managing director of the Perleberg slaughterhouse, Ringo Beinroth, has confirmed the closure of the facility, the largest slaughterhouse in the state of Brandenburg, in a letter to the governor of the Prignitz district, Christian Müller.
Since the beginning of January, the Prignitz district, aware of the economic situation and the structural challenges facing the sector, has maintained close communication with the company regarding this matter.

Also in early 2025, Hanka Mittelstädt, Brandenburg's Minister of Agriculture, Food, Environment, and Consumer Protection, along with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, launched an initiative to offer assistance to the company. Following further discussions with representatives of the owners and Brandenburg funding agencies, facilitated by Minister Mittelstädt, the company did not re-establish contact, and no new financial difficulties were reported to the ministry after mid-year.
The closure of the Perleberg slaughterhouse affects approximately 150 employees.
