Farmers are being given more time to submit their applications for investment subsidies under the Federal Program for the Promotion of Animal Husbandry Conversion (BUT). These can now be submitted to the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) until August 31, 2026. The corresponding new regulation is currently being prepared and will be published shortly in the Federal Gazette.
The BUT, which was adopted by the previous federal government, promotes investment in pig barns that are particularly animal- and environmentally-friendly and the ongoing additional costs of such husbandry. Applications for investment subsidies could previously be submitted until April 30, 2026. This deadline has now been extended by four months to August 31, 2026. This is in line with the wishes of many farmers, who will now have more time to submit the building permits required for their applications. Applications can be submitted for the last time on October 15, 2028. The investment subsidy will expire in 2028. As before, applications for consumptive subsidies can still be submitted until March 31, 2028.
