Denmark – Decrease in swine census

According to the latest data on the swine census published by the Danish Agriculture and Food Council, during the first trimester of this year there has been a 2.3% decrease in the number of animals compared to last year. As on April 1st, 2011, the census was at 11,932.000 animals while at the same time last year the census was at 12,208,000 animals.

According to the latest data on the swine census published by the Danish Agriculture and Food Council, during the first trimester of this year there has been a 2.3% decrease in the number of animals compared to last year. As on April 1st, 2011, the census was at 11,932.000 animals while at the same time last year the census was at 12,208,000 animals.

Compared with January (12,293,000), the total census has reduced by 2.9%. This data corresponds to a normal seasonal decrease, according to the Danish statistics institute, Danmark Statistiks.

With respect to the same period last year, there has been a 4.1% decrease of the total number of sows.
