Colombia: Pork imports increased by 25% in the first half of 2025

During the first half of the year, pork imports exceeded 94,000 tons, setting a historic record.

At the end of the first half of the year, imports of pork products and by-products totaled 94,362 tons (t), representing US$270.7 million CIF, a 24.5% increase in volume and a 26.4% increase in value compared to the same period in 2024.

In June 2025, there was a 16.8% increase compared to the same month of the previous year, going from 10,556 to 12,330 tons. Compared to May, there was a 35.9% drop.

Products from the United States (71.4%), Canada (13.5%), and Chile (11.5%) accounted for 96.3% of total imports in June.

Frozen boneless meat (42.8%), frozen chops and ribs (36.2%), and other frozen pork meat (7.1%) comprised 86.1% of June imports.

The implied price for the imported product averaged COP 12,254/kg in June, which was 8.5% higher than the average for the same month in 2024 (COP 11,299/kg), while the variation in dollars indicated an increase of 6.2%, from USD 2.81 to USD 2.98/kg.
