According to the latest edition of the Municipal Livestock Survey, Brazil's swine inventory reached 43.9 million head in 2024, representing an increase of 1.8% compared to the previous year. At the same time, the number of breeding sows remained virtually stable, with an increase of 0.6% and a total of 5 million head, which is the highest historical record for breeding sows.
There was also a 1.2% increase in pig slaughter, reaching a record high in 2024, although showing a slowdown in the sector's growth. Pork exports also reached an all-time high.

In terms of geographical distribution, Toledo (Paraná) maintained its leadership in production among the 5,487 municipalities with pig farming activity, accounting for 2.2% of the total inventory (950,000 head). It was followed by Uberlândia (Minas Gerais), with 1.4% (623,900 head), and Marechal Cândido Rondon (Paraná), with 1.3% (576,000 head).
