According to the Argentine Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing, Lorenzo Basso, the decrease in cow meat has led to an increase in the consumption of pork meat.

The consumption of pork meat in Argentina, traditionally oriented towards sausages and cold cuts, has gone from 7 to 9 kilos of meat per inhabitant in the last years, 4 kilos of which representing fresh meat.
