This Wednesday (1st), the ceremony for the transfer of office of the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock will take place, from Minister Carlos Fávaro to André de Paula.
An extra edition of the Official Gazette (DOU) dismissed Carlos Fávaro and appointed André de Paula in his place. De Paula was previously Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, a position from which he has been dismissed, now held by Édipo Araújo, former executive secretary of the ministry. Fávaro stepped down to run for Senate seat for Mato Grosso in the October elections.

André holds a law degree from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco and has a career as federal public servant.
With the change of ministry, André de Paula will also manage a significantly larger budget. In Fisheries and Aquaculture, a ministry reestablished in 2023, the budget was around BRL 270 million fo administration and program management.
In agriculture, the total budget reaches BRL 12.1 billion, including administration, public service pension, and public policy implementation. Of this, BRL 4.5 billion is allocated to programs and direct management., he will oversee the Brazilian Agriculture Research Corporation (Embrapa), with more than BRL 4.8 billion in budget, and the Coffee Economy Defense Fund (Funcafé), with BRL 7.4 billion allocated for 2026.
The ceremony will mark the transition of leadership of the ministry, bringing together authorities, representatives of the agricultural sector, and invited guests.
