Hormones

Virbagest® is an oral solution that contains altrenogest, a potent progesterone analogue that inhibits the release of gonadotropins by the pituitary gland. This mechanism extends the luteal phase, keeping young gilts in physiological anestrus during treatment. It is administered for 18 days before inclusion in the breeding group, allowing efficient estrus synchronization and improving key reproductive performance indicators.

In addition, its use helps reduce non-productive days, increases prolificacy and optimizes the distribution of parities per batch, positively impacting the offspring’s life cycle.

Its ergonomic and eco-friendly design facilitates application and storage, making it an essential tool for reproductive success in swine production.

Three main characteristics:

  1. Precise estrus synchronization: Ensures estrus expression 5 to 6 days after the end of treatment, facilitating breeding planning.
  2. Easy application and storage: Presented in 450 ml and 900 ml bottles with an ergonomic Pump-It® applicator that allows efficient use of the product. It is stored at room temperature, and its PET packaging is resistant to sunlight.
  3. Cost optimization and improved productivity: Reduces non-productive days (NPD), improves prolificacy across all parities and decreases costs associated with purchasing replacement animals.

Benefits:

  • Optimizes operating costs while improving workflow efficiency and labor productivity.
  • Allows planning the exact day of estrus and breeding.
  • Optimal distribution of parities per batch and impact on the offspring life cycle.
  • Reduces costs associated with purchasing replacement animals.
  • Increases prolificacy regardless of parity.
  • Improves lifetime reproductive performance by reducing early sow culling.
  • Helps achieve farrowing targets.

Requirements for first breeding:

Minimum weight.
Minimum age.
Minimum number of detected estrus cycles.
