OX-AGUA 2G: effective against Clostridium
The bacteria of genus Clostridium form part of the usual flora of pigs, however, when there is an imbalance in their proportion in the digestive tract, they result in disease, with greater or lesser repercussions, and can even be lethal at certain stages of production.
This imbalance can be caused by a variety of factors, including aspects related to management, or poor water quality, a field in which GRUPO OX is specialised.
In addition, there are several species of importance for the pig sector, including C.perfringens (A and C), C. difficile, C. botulinum, C. tetani, C. novyi, C. chauvoei and C. septicum, but they all find a means of propagation in water and become even more important when we talk about BIOFILM.
This, together with the low efficacy of conventional water treatments against Clostridium bacteria and spores, makes the use of OX-AGUA 2G a key factor in reducing this type of problem.
As an example we can see the sudden death caused in fattening pigs by these bacteria. Without being a disease that may need special attention as it does not affect a large number of animals, the problem lies in the economic losses associated with the involvement of healthy animals, which have advanced stages with the consequent expense in feed, treatments, work, etc...
In the same way, different species of the same genus will be involved in enteritis and diarrhoea processes in earlier stages of the cycle, affecting a greater number of piglets, resulting in significant economic losses.
RETURN OF INVESTMENT (ROI)
During the entire production phase, the pig's water consumption, although dependent on many variables, can easily exceed 1,000 litres per animal from the time it starts drinking water until it is sent to slaughter (taking as a reference a consumption of around 3l/animal/day during the transition and 10l/animal/day during fattening). Thanks to the effectiveness of OX-AGUA 2G:
