lodoSigma Europe has established an alliance with Grupo Vall Companys, which will promote its strategy of specialization towards the end consumer. The agreement, subject to formal presentation and approval by the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC), contemplates two complementary operations. The first will consist of the transfer of the Agroalimentaria Chico pig farm, recently acquired by Grupo Vall Companys, to Desarrollos Porcinos de Castilla y Leon (Deporcyl), a company in which both groups hold a majority stake. This integration will enable Sigma Europe to improve the supply of top-quality raw materials and strengthen the traceability of pork from farm to table.

The second operation will involve Grupo Vall Companys acquiring a majority stake and taking over management of the slaughterhouse and cutting plant in Burgos, while Sigma Europe will retain its status as a partner. This new model will maximize the operational efficiency of the slaughterhouse, integrate significant volumes of live pigs, and significantly expand production.

Sigma Europe, for its part, will retain exclusive ownership and operational management of the plant dedicated to the production of fresh meat products for end consumers, which will operate through its subsidiary Campofrio Frescos, maintaining total control over this line of business. This specialization will strengthen its positioning, facilitating support for its customers in the growth of a category with great potential. “This agreement is an important step in the evolution of Sigma Europe that will enhance our commercial offering, contribute to our market leadership, and accelerate our growth and profitability in the region,” said Juan Ignacio Amat, CEO Sigma Europe.

With this agreement, each group will leverage its complementary strengths.Sigma Europe will focus its activity on innovation, production, and marketing of fresh and processed meat products for consumers, with prestigious brands that are well established in Spanish households, such as Campofrio, Campofrio Frescos, Navidul, Revilla, and Oscar Mayer. Meanwhile, Grupo Vall Companys will focus on livestock and slaughterhouse management, areas in which it has extensive experience and clear recognition. “The agreement with Sigma Europe will allow us to maximize the strengths of both companies and improve operations throughout the pork value chain: from farm to table, including the industry,” said Albert Morera, Director of the Pork Division, Grupo Vall Companys.

Sigma Europe and Grupo Vall Companyshave reaffirmed their total commitment to employment, the continuity of all operations, and quality customer service.
