logoThe German Agricultural Society (DLG), organizer of the Agritechnica and EuroTier exhibitions, is inviting farmers worldwide, who create content on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook, to apply for the 2025 DLG Agri Influencer Award. The international award, which opened for entries today, recognizes outstanding digital communicators in agriculture, who engage the public and share insights into farming. By spotlighting these storytellers, DLG aims to support their work and raise awareness of modern agriculture.

Launched by the DLG in 2022, the Agri Influencer Award International is conferred annually on a select group of farmers in both livestock and arable sectors. Winners are chosen through a competitive application process open to farmers worldwide who share their agricultural stories on social media. The 2025 winners will be announced in October and honored during the Young Farmers’ Party at Agritechnica, the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery, on Friday, 14 November. As part of the award, winners will be invited to Agritechnica with travel expenses covered. For the first time, second- and third-place winners will also be recognized. The application deadline is 17 August, 2025.

The 2025 DLG Agri Influencer Award honors social media profiles run by farmers, who show a strong commitment to public outreach in agriculture. Bringing their followers into the fields, the livestock buildings and the tractor cab through social media, these individuals also make themselves available to answer questions and engage in real conversations with the press and the public.

“These are the very voices of farmers sharing their lives with honesty and heart, and always ready to answer questions or start a conversation. Their presence online not only sparks dialogue but also strengthens the connection between agriculture and the rest of society,” said Heike Zeller, chair of the award jury and founder of aHEU – Regional Marketing Strategies.

Past recipients affirm the value of the award. “Winning was hugely rewarding, and it gave me a big boost to keep going,” said Cevin Lorenzen, named DLG Best Agri YouTuber in German 2024 and a jury member for 2025. “I met so many new people and made valuable connections, and I realized just how much interest there is in agriculture.”

Ayşe Öksüz, DLG Best Agri Instagrammer International 2024, shared a similar experience. “Winning the DLG Agri Influencer Award led to so many amazing opportunities. It was a big chance to show the world what we’re doing on our small farm in Turkey. I also made many new friends and gained business opportunities.”

The award is presented in two categories: “DLG Best Agri Influencer International” and “DLG Best Agri Influencer in German.” Eligible participants include any social media channels run by farmers that have at least 1,000 followers and share agricultural content, including farm practices, equipment and livestock content in German or another language. One social media profile will be selected as the winner in each category.

Key judging criteria include:

  • The relevance and originality of the topics covered
  • Effectiveness of communication through language and visuals
  • Representation of the diversity within the agricultural sector
  • The balance of the content shared
  • The quality of engagement with the online community

Entries will be evaluated by an independent, international jury appointed by the DLG. The panel includes respected advisors, media professionals and practitioners. As a nonprofit farmers’ organization, the DLG works to promote knowledge sharing and innovation in agriculture. This award reflects that mission by supporting farmers who communicate their experiences and expertise—both within the farming community and to the broader public. With six weeks to submit entries, winners will be announced and honored by the DLG during the Young Farmers’ Party on Friday, 14 November at Agritechnica 2025 in Hanover.
