IPVS 2012 Korea

The Congress will be held under the theme of "Happy Pigs-Healthy People" and will consist of keynote lectures, satellite symposia, oral presentations, poster sessions, social programs, and a variety of tour programs. Pork consumption in the Asian region is expected to increase more with better future economy. In order to meet the growing needs of the pork consumers, we must grow our industry while improving pig health and producing safe pork. The Organizing Committee is planning to design the best possible programs including high quality scientific sessions that will provide deeper knowledge and open new perspectives on the swine industry. The program will cover every aspect of the swine industry including economically important diseases, new and exotic diseases, production management, feed and nutrition, genetics, welfare, pork safety, etc.

Asia has the highest pig population and the swine industry is continuously growing and improving. When the IPVS congress was held in Bangkok, Thailand in 1994, it was the first and last time that it was held in Asia. The Korean Association of Swine Veterinarians (KASV) is excited to be given this opportunity to host the congress once again in Asia. Although, the land size of South Korea is small l, we have a very active swine industry. The country has witnessed spectacular growth in the economy and other sectors over the two decades and this growth has been mirrored in the swine industry. It is believed that the IPVS 2012 will be a successful one.
