Iowa Pork Regional Conferences

The Iowa Pork Producers Association has teamed up with the Iowa Pork Industry Center and Iowa State University Extension swine specialists to host regional conferences on March 9-12.

“IPPA strives to continue offering educational sessions that provide value to Iowa’s pork producers,” says Tyler Bettin, IPPA producer education director. “We encourage anyone with a genuine interest in pork production to attend these conferences.”

During the conferences, Mike Brumm, Brumm Consultancy, will discuss common ventilation mistakes that he sees on farm visits. He will offer some tips to overcome these mistakes such as correctly setting ventilation controllers and inlets in swine barns. He also will provide ideas on how to reduce energy consumption on the farm. Brumm’s presentations are underwritten by Phibro Animal Health.

A representative from Consumers Energy will share information regarding a partnership program with Iowa Farm Bureau, Iowa State University and other agricultural groups to help evaluate on-farm energy use and offset the cost of whole-farm energy audits for producers.

Finally, the Iowa State Extension swine specialists will update attendees on current industry conditions, potential cost structures and tips for planning for the future.

All sessions are scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Conference dates and locations are as follows:

● Tuesday, March 9– Sheldon, Northwest Iowa Community College, Building C Auditorium
