Feeding and Barn Management Practices that Maximize Feed Efficiency

Nutrition, herd health, genetics and environment all impact feed efficiency, but there are also many items a producer can cover in their daily chores to make a difference in feed efficiency. This presentation will focus on what a producer can do in the barn on a day-to-day basis to achieve the most cost effective feed efficiency.

DR BOB GOODBAND

Dr. Bob Goodband is a native of Walpole, Massachusetts. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1984. After obtaining his M.S. and Ph.D. in Swine Nutrition at Kansas State University, he joined the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry at K-State. Bob is one of the rare people that has thrived in a 3-way, teaching, research, and extension appointment. Bob advises approximately 40 undergraduate students each year and has been the major professor for 15 M.S. and Ph.D. students and served on the graduate committees of over 60 students. Bob has excelled in his teaching appointment by his enthusiastic and practical approach to classes. He consistently is one of the highest rated teachers and advisors at Kansas State University. Dr. Goodband also has a thriving extension and research program. He has published over 200 journal articles, 462 abstracts, and 622 extension publications. Bob, his wife Dani, and son, Brady, enjoy traveling, tailgating with friends at K-State football games, and spending time with their dogs on their farm outside of Riley, KS.
