EuroPRRS2012

The Conference is organized by COST FA0902 Action, The Roslin Institute of the University of Edinburgh, UK and by Szent István University.

Main topics of the Conference

  •     Diagnostics of PRRS infection
  •     Epidemiology and genetic diversity
  •     Control and eradication
  •     Immunopathogenesis

Registration Deadline: 5 Oct

Academics enjoy free registration if submitting work, otherwise £100. Industry representatives registration cost is £200.

Improved understanding of PRRS will enable improved control of the disease. Rising feed costs will have a long term impact on the sustainability of pig production and the cost of pig products, which are already beginning to have a negative impact. Reducing losses from disease, especially PRRS with its impacts on reproduction, can offset some of these adverse impacts and improve the sustainability of the industry. Improved disease control also contributes to consumer demand for products from healthy, welfare-friendly pig production systems. A better understanding of PRRS control will also have societal benefits, especially in emerging and developing economies of Europe and Asia, where pig production plays a vital role. Improved PRRS control will also help to feed a growing world population.
