Developments in Phosphorus Nutrition in Pigs and Poultry

Developments in Phosphorus Nutrition in Pigs and Poultry

Phosphorus (P) is a very important mineral in animal nutrition, especially for fast growing animals. An adequate bioavailability of phosphorus is essential for optimal animal wellbeing and productivity. The animal production sector focusses on further improvement of phosphorus use efficiency to decrease phosphorus losses to the environment.

Internationally acknowledged scientists will present:

  •     Past developments and future expectations on P nutrition in pigs
    •     Paul Bikker, Wageningen UR Livestock Research
  •     Assessing nutritive value and requirement of phosphorus in poultry
    •     Markus Rodehutscord, Institute of Animal Nutrition, University of Hohenheim, Germany
  •     Microbial phytases in poultry nutrition: Twenty years in review
    •     Velmurugu Ravindran, Institute of Food, Nutrition and Human Health, Massey University, New Zealand
  •     The role of intrinsic phytase in poultry diet formulation
    •     Marinus van Krimpen, Wageningen UR Livestock Research
  •     Bone criteria in the evaluation of mineral phosphorus sources in broilers
    •     Yauheni Shastak, Institute of Animal Nutrition, University of Hohenheim, Germany
  •     Evaluation of phosphorus in pig diets Hanne Damgaard Poulsen, Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, Denmark
  •     The importance of phytase in pig nutrition
    •     Age Jongbloed, Wageningen UR Livestock Research
