Cremona Fairs

Some 130 exhibitors, mainly from Europe, will be at BioEnergy Italy, held from 15 to 17 March 2012 in Cremona, Italy. According to the organizers CremonaFiere S.p.a. (Fair Cremona) and DLG International, a subsidiary of the DLG (German Agricultural Society), the exhibition promises a broad range of bioenergy solutions, with an extensive programme that covers biogas, solar, geothermal, solar, energy from wood and energy from by-products the food industry.

Premiering last year, BioEnergy Italy attracts exhibitors from Italy, Germany, Belgium, Austria and the Netherlands, with German technology manufacturers strongly represented again this year. This year's BioEnergy Italy will again be a unique platform for the latest techniques and methods available in the area of renewable energy. Registration for the exhibition has so far reflected the importance of Italy in Europe's bioenergy market, particularly for other European bioenergy industries such as in Germany.

The extensive exhibition will be complemented by a practical and professional technical programme that addresses all aspects of energy from renewable sources. This includes the fourth World Corn Day and the second Food Bio-energy event which highlights energy extraction from food waste. In addition to these are conferences comparing the development of the bioenergy industries in Italy and Germany, another focusing on the environment and energy production as well as a variety of exhibitor workshops. Technical forums will be held alongside the exhibition where farmers can learn more about practical recommendations on the various forms of bioenergy.

A special outdoor event "Biogas from sugar beet", held at the fairgrounds in Cremona, will showcase an exemplary process where sugar substrates derived from biogas fermentation can be replicated in a field setting. Presentations on the construction and operation of a biogas plant, aspects of photovoltaics, geothermal energy and plantations will cater of consultants, farmers and experts from industry and academia.

Another highlight of BioEnergy Italy 2012 is the first-ever a summit to be held as a research exchange between scientists from Germany and Italy. Some 50 scientists are expected to participate in this event, sharing their experience and results from bioenergy research. Prof. Dr. Kilian Hartman of the University of Applied Sciences Aschaffenburg and Dr. Hans Oechsner of the University of Hohenheim in Germany will each be represented by a team of researchers from Cremona. From Italy, scientists from the University of Turin, Florence and Perugia will participate in this summit.
