BPEX pig meat quality workshop

BPEX is hosting a one-day workshop focusing on pig meat quality on Wednesday 20 March 2013 at the Haycock Hotel, Wansford, Peterborough, PE8 6JA. The workshop, hosted by BPEX Board Member Andrew Saunders, is open to everyone committed to improving the quality of British pig meat, particularly technical and production managers and graduate trainees.

Technical and academic speakers will present the latest developments influencing pig meat quality in the UK, Europe, America.

Emma Bailey-Beech, BPEX’s Pork Safety and Quality Manager, says: “Topics will include breaking the chain of zoonoses, the opportunities for boar taint management, recent developments and horizon scanning, food forensics and traceability and the US approach to eating quality.”

There will be a discussion in the afternoon, so Emma urges attendees to bring their questions, ideas and experience along for a lively, informative debate. Attendance is free and lunch will be provided.

People wishing to attend, who have not already registered, can book their place by contacting Emma at emma.bailey-beech@bpex.ahdb.org.uk or by phoning 0247 647 8802.
