2009 SafePork - 8th international symposium: Epidemiology and control of foodborne pathogens in pork
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the 2009 SafePork Organizing and Scientific Committees, it is a great honor and privilege to invite you to the 8th International Symposium on the Epidemiology and Control of Foodborne Pathogens in Pork.
Since the first edition of this event (Aimes, USA, 1996), the scope of the Symposium has widened from Salmonella control and pre-harvest research to a broader range of foodborne pathogens, as well as to chemical contaminants and physical defects within the pork chain.
The main goal of this Symposium, to be held in Québec City, Canada, from September 30th to October 2nd, is to bring together leading international scientists and specialists from various pork-related scientific fields to present and discuss the most recent science, policies and strategies and to provide policy- and decision-makers with sound recommendations. Furthermore, for the very first time, short training workshops will be offered to Symposium participants. Leading international experts in food safety and pork will share their experiences in applying various epidemiological, molecular and pathogen-control approaches.
Finally, we are certain that the location of this Symposium in the heart of one of the most beautiful Canadian cities, Québec, will mean an unforgettable tourism and social experience for participants and their guests.
