Alícia Zem Fraga is a Zootechnician from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). She has a Master's degree in Zootechnics from the Faculty of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences - FCAV (Unesp/Jaboticabal), with a period at the Instut National de la Recherche Agronomique, France (INRAE, France). PhD in Zootechnics in the co-tutelage modality between Unesp/Jaboticabal and Agrocampus Ouest/INRAE. She did post-doctoral studies in Animal Science at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFGRS) and Unesp/Jaboticabal.

She is currently a Substitute Professor of swine at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).
