Pseudoviruses (PsV) are closely related to the structures and characteristics of its native viruses, but lack some characteristics of the native viruses such as capability for replication. The HPV PsV system has been widely used in the HPV research field because the property of HPV PsV is similar to that of native HPV virion. The capsid of HPV consists of 72 homo-pentameric capsomers of the major structural protein L1 and a variable number (12–72 copies) of the minor structural protein L2. L1 and L2 proteins can be assembled spontaneously into virus-like particles (VLPs) and package either HPV
