Mexico, among the world’s principal feed producers

Mexico is found to be among the 10 main producers of feed, worldwide. This year production is estimated at29,4 million tons, the concentration of which is mainly poultry, followed by pork, milk, and beef.

Mexico is found to be among the 10 main producers of feed, worldwide. This year production is estimated at29,4 million tons, the concentration of which is mainly poultry, followed by pork, milk, and beef.

The 2011 forecast shows this country reaching 420 animal food production plants with a commercial value of approximately 120 million pesos, as well the creation of 268 direct and indirect jobs.

The president of CONAFAB, Juan Antonio Pedroza Martínez, mentioned that in 2010 the world feed production was approximately 680 million tons and on the American Continent they reached 302 million tons, with the US, Brazil and Canada heading up the list.

He added that Mexico holds fourth place in the region, registering 28.1 million tons produced last year; the total production of America, all together, represents 44% of the world total, he said.
