An international approach to Animal Welfare

We are glad to announce the publication of 3 new articles about animal welfare on our Total Pig Health website. They are mainly focused on the benefits that intradermal needle-free vaccination with IDAL has on pigs’ behavior and on the way to evaluate how they affect the welfare of those pigs.

The authors have particular views on this topic, as they work in different áreas:

· Gonzalo Mena, from Chile, talks about the benefits of IDAL for the pig’s welfare and health as it has been demonstrated in some trials on Agrosuper’s farms.

· Enric Marco, from Spain, explains how to evaluate animal welfare from a scientific perspective and brings some data from different trials showing the differences between IDAL and IM vaccination procedures.

· Terry Coffey, from the USA, highlights the lack of understanding about pig farming (and especially of animal welfare), mainly due to the current social distance between producers and consumers.
