On March 20, 2014, a group of Danish practitioners from the Postgraduate Programme in Porcine Health Management met with researchers from CReSA.
Professor Jens Peter Nielsen, Head of Production and Health Section from the University of Copenhagen, and Jorgen Lindahl, swine consultant, visited Barcelona with a group of 12 Danish practitioners that have completed a two-year postgraduate Programme in Porcine Health Management.
Additional to the visit of farms, a visit to CReSA was programmed to meet with researchers and discuss different topics on swine. After a presentation of CReSA by Dr Joaquim Segalés, the centre’s Director, different talks on swine diseases were offered:
- African swine fever: history of an almost neglected disease and the race towards obtaining a safe and efficient vaccine, by Dr Fernando Rodríguez.
- Swine influenza: high diversity, complex epidemiology and unknown impact, by Dr Gerard Martin-Valls.
- Getting the most from PCV2 vaccination, by Dr Joaquim Segalés.
