20 years ago, when gilts were serviced at little more than 100kg’s, we observed a steep drop in productivity in the second cycle and the sows were never able to reach their maximum potential. Nowadays we have learned to mate prepared gilts, but in many cases we continue to see the second cycle syndrome.
