The Polish veterinary authorities have confirmed an outbreak of African swine fever on a farm with 5 domestic pigs located in Gródek (district of Bialystok, province of Podlasie).

The Polish veterinary authorities have confirmed an outbreak of African swine fever on a farm with 5 domestic pigs located in Gródek (district of Bialystok, province of Podlasie).

The suspicion of the disease occurred last July 19. The farm was placed under surveillance and samples were taken for their analysis. After confirming the presence of the disease, all animals were sacrificed. The perimeter of the herd has been cleaned and disinfected and all control measures including the establishment of protection and surveillance zones (3 and 7 km) have been implemented. In these areas there are a total of 37 pig herds with a total of 192 pigs.
