Brazil: pig meat exports increased in 2012

In 2012 the Brazilian pig meat exports amounted 581,477 tons and a value of $ 1.49 billion.

According to the data published by the Brazilian Swine Producing and Exporting Industry Association (ABIPECS), in year 2012, the pig meat exports amounted 581,477 tons and a value of $ 1.49 billion, which means a rise by 12.60% in terms of volume and by 4.21% in terms of value.

During last year, the main pig meat market for Brazil was Ukraine, with 138,666 tons, with an increase by 124.71% with respect to year 2011. The second client was Russia: 127,071 tons, with an increase by 0.5%. The third buyer was Hong Kong, with 124,702 tons, with an increase by 3.88% with respect to year 2011. In the fourth place was Angola: 45,535 tons, with a growth by 20.65%; followed by Argentina, with 23,387 tons and a rise by 44.36% in comparison with year 2011. China imported 3,019 tons in 2012 and 25 tons in 2011.

The Brazilian states that exported the most during last year were Santa Catarina (207,772 tons), Rio Grande do Sul (174,245 tons), Goias (71,477 tons), Paraná (54,469 tons), Minas Gerais (41,527 tons), Mato Grosso do Sul (17,470 tons), Mato Grosso (11,787 tons) and Sao Paulo (2,730 tons).
