Jyden Bur: Free stall system for the European market

[Company news]

10/mar/2010 - (0 comments)

Jyden Bur For 6 years ago, Jyden Bur has developed a free stall system with the JB5000 crate. Since then, Jyden Bur has installed more than 20.000 crates all over Scandinavia – and the number is fast growing!

As the 2013 issue will come to reality for all countries of the European Union, Jyden Bur has now launched the JB5000 crate for the European market.

The system allows the sow to move freely around the common area with free access mode of the gestation crates. The JB5000 is designed with a sustainable Twin Lock system and when a sow enters the crate, the rear gate closes automatically behind her. It prevents other sows access to an occupied crate. With her own weight, the sow will activate the rear gate to walk out.

The crates can be locked temporally for breeding and pregnancy testing – it is possible to lock either a group of crates or a single crate. Another feature is that the rear gate is including a footboard which ensures easy access to the sow for vaccination, scanning and insemination.

“The JB5000 has been designed to provide more productivity of the sow due to a natural, healthy behavior. The free access mode improves the well-being of the sow with the crates limit fighting and the common area to ensure less stress and frustration among the sows. With the JB5000, the sow will have the opportunity to choose whether she wants to be social or to stay “alone” in the crate”, says Export Manager John Kongsgaard, Jyden Bur.

Even thought the JB5000 has many functions, the crate has been designed with vey few components, which minimizes the risk of breakdown and makes the crate very durable.
